Porting EB3 to EB2 is not going to invalidate your EAD or AP since they are linked to your 485 application.
In porting all we really do is link the new EB2 I-140 application to your existing 485...

Just search the forums and you will find numerous threads on this. You should be fine to return back on AP and then continue to work on H1B status. I am doing the same.
