Following the introduction of S.2454 – Securing America’s Borders Act (the original Senate Comprehensive Immigration bill), Immigration Voice confers with Sen. Brownback’s (R-KS) staff and successfully advocates to introduce Amendment #3341 to S.2454.
Amendment#3341 is expected to enable filing for Adjustment of Status without visa number availability. Additionally, these amendments are expected to remove the hard country cap on employment-based Green Cards and ensure that skilled immigrant Green Cards recaptured from 2001-2004 be available to the skilled immigrant categories only. The amendments are also expected to allow for 3-year extensions for H1B visas (temporary work visa), Employment Authorization, and Travel Documents. The amendments could also improve STEM exemption and drop the 3-year experience requirement.
Update: This bill did not pass cloture and the amendments were never voted on.
